COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The top-seeded Maryland field hockey team (16-2) dominated ninth-seeded Michigan State, 6-0, Sunday afternoon in the Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament quarterfinals at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
The Terrapins showcased their depth with six different players scoring and 22 players contributing on the field. Maryland controlled Michigan State (5-15) on both ends of the field, taking a season-high 30 shots to the Spartans' two.
Maryland advanced to the Big Ten Semifinals in Evanston, Ill. Friday at 1 p.m. ET and will take on fourth-seeded Ohio State (12-7). For the full bracket and more on the Big Ten Tournament, click

"This was dominant, being able to come on the field and present like that," head coach
Missy Meharg said. "Michigan State played super well on Friday. We scored a lot of goals when we played them before, but we didn't play very well. This was a pure dominance of the game.

Lizzy Dessoye and a lot of players that haven't had a tremendous amount of minutes are just completely bringing great performances to the table. That couldn't come at a better time of year."
Senior tri-captain
Linnea Gonzales opened the scoring just 3:30 into the match when she cracked a shot off a pass from junior
Madison Maguire just inside the circle and slammed it in. With the goal, Gonzales reached 100 career points off 44 career goals and 12 career assists.
Just over 10 minutes later, sophomore
Bodil Keus made it a two-goal lead for Maryland when she scored off a hard shot on a penalty corner, set up by Maguire and freshman
Bibi Donraadt.
Twenty-eight seconds later, redshirt freshman
Mayv Clune added the Terps' third goal off a long run. Clune and Donraadt had numbers on Michigan State's goalkeeper. Donraadt's initial shot was saved, then she deflected the ball to Clune for the score over the goalkeeper. Maryland led 3-0 at halftime.
Junior
Lizzy Dessoye made it a 4-0 lead for the Terrapins when she deflected in a shot off a penalty corner in the 55
th minute. Just over three minutes later, junior
Nike Lorenz took the ball herself and carried it to the right side of the circle and cracked a shot into the empty goal.
Donraadt scored with 2:08 to go to finalize the score at 6-0. She brought the ball just inside the circle and around three defenders for the goal. She finished the day with one goal and two assists.

Sarah Holliday made a save in the first half. Junior
Noelle Frost and freshman Sky Joegriner also saw time in goal.
Donraadt was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week Monday for the second time this year. Donraadt scored both the game-tying and game-winning goals in the Terps' 2-1 win over No. 17 Northwestern that also clinched a share of the Big Ten title.
Gonzales is leading Maryland with 14 goals this season. Maryland has 10 scorers with multiple goals and 14 total Terps have found the goal line.
