Terps Place Five at Patriot Open

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Led by Danny Bertoni's fourth-place finish, the Maryland wrestling team placed five wrestlers at the Patriot Open on Sunday.
Bertoni tallied four wins in the 141-pound weight class to earn the fourth place finish. After dropping his opening match, Bertoni rallied off four-consecutive victories to land on the podium.
Freshmen Jake Nielson and Parker Robinson each earned sixth-place finishes in their respective brackets. Nielson won his opening round bout in the 174-pound class over Jake Cook of North Carolina State to end his day on the podium. Robinson picked up a pair of victories in the 285-pound class, winning both matches by a single point.
Rounding out the group were freshmen Jarod Kosman and Lucas Cordio, who ended their tournaments in eighth place. Kosman wrestled in the 125-pound class, winning two matches on the day. His run was headlined by a pin over Jeremy Berger of Johns Hopkins at the 5:29 mark.
Cordio also won two matches in the 165-pound bracket. The feshman won both his matches by decision.
Maryland will be back in action when it takes part in the Cleveland State Open on Dec. 15.
