COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland men's soccer junior defender Donovan Pines was named Soloman Eye Associates Terp of the Week following his standout performance against No. 3 Kentucky in Friday's Elite Eight matchup.
Pines was sensational as Maryland advanced to its first College Cup since 2013. Pines helped shutout Kentucky top scorer and national player of the year candidate JJ Williams. The Wildcats entered the match with the nation's No. 5 scoring offense and were 12-0 at home. Maryland has not allowed a goal in its last 320 minutes of play. An second-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten performer, Pines has emerged as one of the top centerbacks in the country.
Maryland is back in action Friday night in the national semifinals against second-seeded Indiana. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m., and will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
