Terps to Travel to West Virginia

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland gymnastics team heads to West Virginia to face the Mountaineers for a meet this Sunday at 2 p.m. The Terps are coming off a historic meet last week that marked head coach Brett Nelligan's highest overall score during his tenure and the fourth overall highest score in program history. LAST TIME OUT

The University of Maryland gymnastics team gave an outstanding performance at last Sunday's quad meet, earning impressive score of 196.575 earned them wins over Rutgers (193.950), William & Mary (193.650) and Brown (193.325). 

The GymTerps placed first in every event, notching a total of 13 personal-best scores and earning 19 scores of 9.800 or higher.

Audrey Barber, the reigning Big Ten Co-Gymnast, Co-Freshman and Terp of the Week, placed first in the overall competition with a career-high score of 39.475, followed by fellow Terps sophomore Alecia Farina (39.150) and sophomore Kirsten Peterman (39.100).

On vault, the team counted an overall team score of 49.125 and no score under 9.725. The Terps earned an overall team score of 49.300 on bars to tie the third highest score on the apparatus in program history. The GymTerps tallied a total of 48.950 on balance beam and an impressive 49.200 on floor.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS

This is the Mountaineers' home season finale after competing in their third straight meet away from Morgantown. The Mountaineers are coming off of a loss at the University of Denver's Winterfest Classic where the team scored a 194.925 to finish third behind the first place Pioneers (196.725) and second place George Washington (195.950).

The team (5-6, 0-2) finished second with a season-high on vault (49.175) and floor (48.775) and third on uneven bars (48.575) and balance beam (48.4). Junior Jaquie Tun scored a season-high of 9.75 on floor and Senior Robyn Bernard earned a season-high of 9.85 on vault.
