COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland baseball team dropped its contest to Army, 3-0, Saturday afternoon at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium.

The Terrapins (2-4) gave up just one earned run on the day, but could not get going in the other facets in order to overcome the Black Knights (3-3). Sophomore Tyler Blohm started for the Terps and struck out five over six innings while allowing just a single earned run.

Maryland notched singles in the opening two innings and then did not find another hit until the sixth. The Terps put runners in scoring position in a few innings, but were unable to find the breakthrough against Army pitching.

The Black Knights grabbed a run off Blohm in the fourth and then added another in the fifth with the benefit of a Maryland error. Senior Kevin Biondic entered in the seventh and pitched three innings, allowing just an unearned run in the seventh. The Oak Lawn, Ill., native recorded a career high five strikeouts.

Maryland and Army will complete their three-game set Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Fans can watch the action live on BTN Plus or listen on the Maryland Baseball Network.
