COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Fifteen student-athletes on the Maryland field hockey team were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's National Academic Squad Wednesday.
Brooke Adler, Hannah Bond, Marissa Cutry, Brooke DeBerdine, Julie Duncan, Logan Edmondson, Noelle Frost, Sophie Giezeman, Kyler Greenwalt, Carrie Hanks, Lein Holsboer, Kelee Lepage, Hannah Menge, Sabrina Rhodes and Emily Thomas were named to the National Academic Squad after earning a GPA of 3.30 through the fall 2017 semester.
Edmondson, a sophomore from Severn, was named a Scholar of Distinction for earning a GPA of 3.90 or higher.
This is Adlers' fourth straight honor by the NFHCA, third for Cutry, Duncan and Hanks and second for Frost, Holsboer, Lepage and Thomas.
As a team, the Terrapins were named a National Academic Squad by the NFHCA last week. They posted a GPA above 3.0 to earn the honor.
Maryland won 11 of 13 games to end the season to make a run to its 18th NCAA Final Four as a program. The Terrapins picked up nine wins over ranked teams, including five over top 10 teams. That stretch included four straight victories over ranked opponents with wins over No. 25 Ohio State, No. 6 Penn State, No. 3 Virginia and No. 21 Rutgers.
Maryland then beat Wake Forest and won at second-seeded Duke to make the semifinals of the NCAA Division I Tournament, where the Terps took out third-seeded Michigan by a 5-1 final to advance to the championship.
Maryland fell in a close 2-1 contest to top-seed Connecticut in the national title game and finished the season with a 16-7 record.
