COLLEGE PARK, Md.- The University of Maryland Student Athlete Advisory Committee hosted its third annual “Fan Fest” following the football team's spring game at Maryland Stadium.
As the spring game wrapped up, fans flocked to the west concourse and took part in activities such as corn hole, inflatable rides and games, football toss, the opportunity to pie student athletes, basketball, among other activities. In addition, the football team and head coach DJ Durkin met fans and signed autographs for the large contingent of Terrapin faithful.
"Fan Fest is a great event," said junior track and field athlete Greg Thompson. "It promotes the student-athlete to society communal feel. It's always nice when you see students of different sports get together and just have fun. It reflects a positive attitude to the rest of the people that come out and support. It's for a great cause. We've hosted things like this in the past and they've always turned out to be very successful. It's nice to be part of it again."
Student-athlete representatives from numerous teams were on hand to help out and raise awareness for the foundations their teams support throughout the season. The charities represented were as follows: American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, JDRF, Kidney Cancer Association, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Pin Cancer, Team Impact and Zaching For Cancer.
