Terps Welcome Emma Schriner to Class of 2018

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland volleyball team has added outside hitter Emma Schriner to the 2018 roster, head coach Adam Hughes announced on Monday.

"We are incredibly excited to have Emma join our volleyball family," said Hughes. "Emma brings with her not only size and skill but the versatility to play in a variety of ways. In our talks with Emma and her family, it was clear that she's dedicated to not only improving her individual game but also committing herself to the growth of our program. We're looking forward to having her join us in College Park this summer."

A native of Williamsburg, Va. and the 60th ranked player in the country by PrepVolleyball.com, Schriner was named a First Team Under Armour All-American and was one of the 24 players in the country that played in the Under Armour All-American match back in December. Schriner will become the third First Team Under Armour All-American to ever play at Maryland and the first to commit to Coach Hughes.

Schriner will come to Maryland as a freshman, transferring from Tennessee after spending the spring semester in Knoxville.

At Jamestown High School, Schriner hit .407 with 485 kills and a 56% kill percentage as a senior, while totaling 199 service aces and 50 total blocks to lead her team to a 24-4 record and semifinal finish. For her efforts in her senior season, Schriner was named the 2017 VHSL Class 4 Player of the Year. Schriner totaled 1,203 kills in her high school career.

Schriner has also been awarded the 2016 Atlantic Coast Power League MVP and was a part of the All-Tournament and All-League teams during that season. She earned the Best Blocker Award in the Capital City Classic in Washington, D.C. in 2016. Schriner played club volleyball for the Williamsburg Volleyball Club.

Joining a young, talented Terrapin squad for the 2018 season, Schriner will enter College Park with fellow newcomers, freshmen Allegra Rivas and Rainelle Jones as well as sophomore transfer Nicole Alford.
