COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Decorated golfer Brad Hastings will join the Maryland men's golf staff as an assistant coach, head coach Jason Rodenhaver announced Monday.
Hastings brings years of coaching, athletics management and golf experience. He was named the 1999 Big South Golfer of the Year at Coastal Carolina and played four years of collegiate golf for the Chanticleers. He was an assistant golf professional at the University of Maryland Golf Course.
"We're thrilled to have Brad join our program," Rodenhaver said. "I've known Brad for almost 20 years. I coached against his Coastal Carolina teams back when I was an assistant coach. He's highly motivated, ultra-competitive and a fantastic player. He brings a wealth of golf knowledge to our program and we can't wait to have him hit the recruiting trail this summer."
Hastings was a student-athlete advisor for the golf program at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. in 2016. Prior to his time at IMG, he served as director of athletics at Saints Peter and Paul High School in Easton for four years, through May 2016. He oversaw the school's athletics budget, scheduling of games, transportation and worked with the booster club for fundraising.
"I am very grateful to Coach Rodenhaver and the search committee for this tremendous opportunity to join his staff and be part of University of Maryland athletics family," Hastings said. "I am very eager to get the season underway and hope I can help continue to raise the standard for our program. I look forward to helping Coach Rodenhaver make this program one of the nation's elite and helping our student-athletes compete at their very best."
Hastings played at Coastal Carolina through 2000, where he was a four-time First Team All-Big South honoree. He was named to the Big South's 1990s All-Decade Team and was inducted into Coastal Carolina University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.
Hastings lives in Easton, Md. with his wife, Tracey, daughter Addison and two stepsons, Conner and Blake.
