COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Six current and former members of the Maryland field hockey family were named to USA Field Hockey national team rosters this month.
Former Terrapin All-American and Olympian Jill Funk (Witmer) will represent Team USA as part of the 18-player squad traveling to London for the Vitality Hockey Women's World Cup this weekend. The USA is in Pool B with Ireland, England and India. The Americans are currently ranked No. 7 in the world, England is No. 2, India is No. 10 and Ireland is No. 16. Fellow former Terp and Honda Award winner Megan Frazer will play for Team Ireland.
Witmer and the U.S. will open competition Saturday at 1 p.m. ET (6 p.m. local) vs. Ireland, then England on Wednesday, July 25 at 3 p.m. ET (8 p.m. local). They will close pool play vs. India on Sunday, July 29 at noon ET (5 p.m. local). The games will be played on the pitch at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.
