Clinical Social Worker/Licensed Counselor

The University of Maryland Intercollegiate Athletics Department is pleased to announce the opening of a new full-time position in the Clinical and Sports Psychology Program expanding our comprehensive and integrated approach to student-athlete development and support. We are seeking a strong generalist to deliver direct clinical and sport psychology services to our student-athlete population. Duties include, but are not limited to, maintaining regular office hours for student-athletes; providing consultation and training to coaches, athletic trainers and other athletic department staff; participating on interdisciplinary teams; consulting with co-treating providers; developing and implementing leadership programming; and maintaining accurate and confidential records. We seek a professional with well-developed therapy skills, commitment to diversity and demonstrated competency in multicultural counseling skills, and a commitment to advancing the vision of a culturally competent athletic department.
Master's degree in counseling or clinical psychology or social work along with a minimum of three years' experience providing individual mental health services and experience providing mental health services to college-aged population is required.
Additional Certifications required:
Licensed clinical provider (LCSW-C, LCPC, Psychologist) and License eligible in the state of Maryland.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position are:
Strong generalist with an interest in sport psychology; Well-developed therapy skills, strong interest in working with culturally and racially diverse student population; and the Ability to work autonomously and conceptualize, develop, and implement treatment plans.
Certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC)l; College/university center experience; Minimum of two years of experience working with student-athletes in individual and team settings; Strong understanding of athletic department culture; Experience developing and implementing prevention and training programs; Experience in leadership training and program development; Experience in the areas of eating disorders/disordered eating and substance abuse are preferred.
