Program Director, Student-Athlete Career Development

The Program Director, Student-Athlete Career Development will provide program management and coordination concerning career development initiatives for student-athletes. This position is designed to manage the Gossett Fellows Program and InTERPship Academy; recruit employers and student-athletes for participation in both; assist student-athletes with job placement; promote and secure internships, experiential and employment opportunities utilizing resources within the Office of Career Services and the M Club; oversee and implement the Terps Career Network; serve as the liaison to the University of Maryland's Career Services Center and the Athletic Department's M Club; host educational career seminars and networking events for student-athletes, and provide regular communication through the job posting board and Career Corner updates and perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
Master's degree required in higher education, sports management, student affairs or related field.
Experience:
One (1) to three (3) years in student development in a NCAA Division I program. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing a mentor program.

- Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills; and excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to manage competing priorities, handle a variety of tasks simultaneously, and complete assignments on time.
- Ability to work collaboratively and to maintain effective interpersonal relationships with coaches, student-athletes, staff, university and external constituents.
- Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment, and problem-solving techniques.
- Knowledge of NCAA rand Big 10 Conference rules and regulations governing student-athlete.
- Demonstrated experience in using social media to support educational and outreach initiatives.
- Knowledge of, and/or experience assessing current and future project expenses, making appropriate expense projections, purchasing recommendations/decisions, budget recommendations.
