LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska scored two first half goals in a defensive struggle with Maryland to capture a 2-0 decision Friday evening. Nebraska moves to 4-8-2 with the win.
The Terrapins (7-5-2) were credited with just five shots in a chilly contest at Hibner Stadium, forcing the Huskers' keeper into making two saves.
Meg Brandt scored both goals for Nebraska, starting with an early fourth minute strike that deflected off a defender to set the tone for the hosts. She followed it up with another goal right before the half in the 37th minute, scoring in the left side of the net after an assist from Marissa Popoola got her past the backline.
The Terps were unable to create consistent pressure up front, registering only one corner kick on the night.
Maryland will have a chance to rebound Sunday when the Terps face Iowa in Iowa City. Kickoff is slated for 2:00 pm ET.
