COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Each week during the 2019-20 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is senior Madison Maguire from field hockey.
Senior Madison Maguire helped the Terrapins to two hard-fought victories over top five teams this week. No. 4 Maryland won a defensive battle at No. 5 Northwestern, 2-1, Thursday. They held the Wildcats scoreless for 57 minutes. Maguire took a shot in the match.
Against No. 3 UConn Sunday, Maguire tipped the ball to teammate Linda Cobano near the top of the circle to assist on the go-ahead and game-winning goal for Maryland. The Terps took a 1-0 lead in the first quarter. Ten minutes later, Maguire deflected in a shot by Riley Donnelly from just in front of the goalkeeper for the 2-0 lead. The Terps won their eighth straight game, and third over a top 10 team in the last two weeks.
