Olankitkunchai Named B1G Golfer of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Junior Virunpat Olankitkunchai of the Maryland's women's golf team was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week Wednesday after tying for third at the Illini Invitational at Medinah Tuesday in Medinah, Ill.

Olankitkunchai led the Terps to a fourth-place finish out of 15 teams competing. She earned a score of 210 (71-70-69), which was six strokes under par. She had five birdies in the third round Tuesday to move from 10th to third in the individual standings.

This is her second straight top-11 finish and highest of the year so far.

As a team, Maryland earned an overall score of 862 (289-288-285), which was two strokes under total. The Terps' score of 862 ties the programs lowest, set in February 2019 at the Moon Golf Invitational.

Olankitkunchai was previously named Big Ten Golfer of the Week on March 14, 2018 and Feb. 20, 2019.

Up next, the Terrapins will compete in the Betsy Rawls invitational in Austin, Texas. Oct.12-13.
