
Hartshorn, Taylor Earn B1G Weekly Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Both attacker Kali Hartshorn and goalie Megan Taylor earned Big Ten Weekly Honors, the Big Ten announced on Tuesday.
Hartshorn was named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading Maryland offensively with 10 points (six goals, four assists) in the Terps two wins at No. 23 Penn State and No. 7 James Madison. Hartshorn also totaled 18 draw controls (nine per game), including a season-best 11 against Penn State, to lead Maryland to a 34-16 advantage in the draw circle in the two games.
At No. 23 Penn State, the junior scored three goals and notched an assist while tallying 11 draw controls and a career-best two caused turnovers to lead Maryland to a 17-6 win. At No. 7 James Madison, Hartshorn led Maryland with six points on three goals and a career-best three assists to lead Maryland to a dominating 18-5 victory over the defending National Champions.
Taylor was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth week in a row, a career-long streak after notching 16 saves and only allowing 11 goals, a .593 save percentage in Maryland's two wins.
The senior saved six shots to only two goals allowed in the second half against Penn State, a .750 save percentage, as Maryland ended the game on an 8-2 run. On the game, Taylor had a .571 save percentage. Taylor helped hold No. 7 James Madison to a season-low five goals, notching eight saves, including five in the second half, a .615 save percentage in an 18-5 win over the Dukes.
Now on the season, the now four-time reigning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and two-time IWLCA National Player of the Week has 93 saves to only 66 goals allowed, a .585 save percentage, the highest mark in the country.
Maryland will be back in action for two games this week, first hosting No. 14 Princeton tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. on FS1. On Saturday, the Terps will travel to Rutgers for a 5:00 game on the Big Ten Network.
