COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Graduate student

Evans was huge in Maryland's 17-8 win over Stony Brook, scoring five goals and notching two assists, all in the first half, to bring Maryland back from 4-0 down to take an 11-6 lead at halftime. The graduate student scored Maryland's second goal of the game to cut it to 4-2 Stony Brook before going on a person 4-0 run to turn a 7-6 score into an 11-6 score entering the half. Evans also assisted on sophomore
Grace Griffin's game-tying goal and a senior
Jen Giles goal earlier in the half.
The All-World player for Canada has been on a tear lately for the Terps, scoring multiple goals in her past eight games and scoring 31 goals over that time-span, an average of 3.88 goals per gam. Evans was an All-Big Ten selection and named to the All-Big Ten Tournament Team. The graduate student is now tied for the team-lead in goals with 53 on the season and is second with 66 points.
Evans is the second Maryland player to earn National Player of the Week honors this year, with senior
Megan Taylor earning IWLCA National Player of the Week distinction three times.
Evans and the Terps will face Denver in the NCAA Quarterfinals this weekend on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The game will be at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium and air live on the Big Ten Network.
