Associate Athletic Director/Director of GSAC (Gossett Student Athlete Center)

The University of Maryland is seeking an effective leader to serve as the Associate Athletic Director/Director of GSAC. Under the dual supervision of the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academics and Student Development/Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) and the Associate Provost/Dean for Undergraduate Studies, the Associate Athletic Director/Director of GSAC will direct, execute and monitor all aspects of the academic support services program for approximately 500 student-athletes across 20 varsity teams. The Director will supervise a professional academic support team while providing strategic direction and promoting academic programs/services that support progress toward graduation in accordance with University, Big Ten, and NCAA regulations. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to lead a progressive team while actively collaborating with departmental, campus, and external partners and perform other duties as assigned.
A Master's Degree and five (5) years of experience in professional, student services or related field is required. Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills along with the ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that provide effective academic support services while identifying and protecting against undue influence specific to academic misconduct; the ability to develop and create innovative educational programs for student-athletes and the Gossett Student Athlete Center (GSAC) team; the ability to manage competing priorities, handle a variety of tasks simultaneously, and complete assignments in a timely manner; the ability to work collaboratively and to maintain effective interpersonal relationships with student-athletes, coaches, GSAC team, university and external partners; and the ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment, and problem-solving techniques.
A Master's Degree in higher education, student affairs, student-athlete development, human resource management or a related field is preferred. Experience administering an exhausted eligibility and winter/summer financial aid program. Knowledge of NCAA and Big Ten Conference rules and regulations governing student-athlete specific to progress towards degree, eligibility, and certification.
