COLLEGE PARK, Md. – University of Maryland center Johnny Jordan and tight end Tyler Mabry were recognized on preseason watch lists on Friday afternoon.
Jordan was named to the 2019 Rimington Trophy Watch List, and award presented annually to the nation's most outstanding center. Mabry was selected to the John Mackey Award for most outstanding collegiate tight end for the second straight year.
Jordan appeared in 11 of 12 games, with six starts at center in 2018. The Leesburg, Virginia native helped block for the 17th best rushing offense in the country last year as the Terps averaged 230.2 yards per game on the ground. Jordan blocked for a team that tallied six games with over 200 rushing yards and helped four different running backs record 100-yard games, the most in program history.
Mabry, a First Team All-Mid-American Conference selection while at Buffalo last year, started all 14 games for the Bulls. He caught 27 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns, while helping Buffalo rush for 189.1 yards per game.
The winner of the Rimington Trophy will be recognized at the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska on Jan. 18, 2020. The 2019 Mackey Award recipient will be announced on December 11, 2019 and then presented live on December 12, 2019 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU.
