COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The reigning national champion Maryland women's lacrosse team will compete in the 2019 Team USA Fall Classic, facing both the U.S. and Canadian National Teams.
The event, which will take place at the US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md., will take place on the Oct. 18-20 weekend, which coincides with head coach Cathy Reese's National Lacrosse Hall of Fame induction on Saturday, October 19.
"This is a great opportunity to compete against the best in the world," said Reese. "We'll use it as a learning experience as we build towards our 2020 season."
This marks the first time Maryland will participate in the Fall Classic, which has invited the current women's and men's national champions for the second year in a row. The Terps will face the world's best, playing the U.S. and Canadian National Teams in two separate contests over the weekend. The two country's teams have swept the gold and silver medals at every World Lacrosse championship dating back to 2010.
Complete schedule information for the Fall Classic will be announced in the near future. In addition, Maryland will also announce its full fall ball state in the upcoming weeks.
