Terrapin Club Member Spotlight: Chuck and Kim Rosenfield

How did you first get involved with the Terrapin Club?
Chuck: Initially, my motivation was purely selfish - I donated for ticket priority. I wanted to be able to go to more games and get better seats! Then, the more games I attended, the more I learned about the athletes who were competing for me.  These young men and women give so much of their time and talent to the fans. I'm grateful and happy to be able to give back to them through the Terrapin Club.
What motivates you to give so generously?
Chuck: I'm proud that 100% of what we donate to the Terrapin Club supports scholarships for deserving athletes. Having the opportunity to meet student-athletes and hear their stories is inspiring. Many of them would not have access to higher education without the financial support of the Terrapin Club.
Do you have a message you would like to share with other donors and fans?
Chuck: Follow your favorite athletes on social media – you'll get to know them on a personal level and feel a greater connection to them, the team, and the University.
Do you have an anecdote about Maryland Athletics or the Terrapin Club that you would share?
Chuck: On February 21, 2009, we were hosting Carolina at the Xfinity Center.  It was a Sunday afternoon tipoff that my wife was not looking forward to -  the Tarheels were number 3 in the nation and the Terps were struggling.  She preferred to stay home and tackle her to-do list and suggested I take our daughter to the game.  Ashli was a junior in high school at the time, exploring colleges and making plans.  Maryland was not one of her priority schools.  Our Terps, led by the energetic Greivis Vasquez, pulled off the win in overtime, the students rushed the court, and we joined them.  She called my wife on the way home and gushed, "Mom, it was EPIC!"  And that sealed her fate – she's a proud Terp, too, Class of 2015!
Who is on your Mount Rushmore of Maryland Athletics
Chuck: Randy White, Boomer Esiason, Len Bias, and Gary Williams.
What do you hope Maryland Athletics will achieve this year?
Chuck: I'd like to see an improved football team play in a bowl game, both the men's and women's basketball teams get their chance to bring home another title,  and for lacrosse, field hockey, soccer and baseball to continue to dominate both the Big 10 and the NCAA. I'm not asking for much!
If you could go back in time and witness one Terps game live (in any sport), what would it be and why?
Chuck: I'd love to have been in that arena to witness the 2002 NCAA basketball Championship!
What is the first Maryland game you ever went to?
Chuck: Saturday, September 11, 1976 – the home opener football game against Richmond my freshman year!
What do you want to see Maryland Athletics achieve moving forward?
Chuck: I want Maryland to be such a dominating force in all sports that when a team gets lucky enough to beat us, it's such a big deal that their students rush the court/field!
What makes Maryland Athletics so special?
Chuck: Maryland Pride is real!  From our flag to our fight song, the culture at Maryland is like no other.  Couple that with our high ethical standards and true concern for our students and you can see why Maryland Athletics builds true champions.
