How did you first get involved with the Terrapin Club?
Brian: I grew up in University Park - I could walk to football and basketball games in 20-30 minutes. As a young boy we could go to the football games and the stadium opened the gates at half-time and we would go in to watch the second half.
I went to the famous High School game of Powers Memorial (with the then Lou Alcindor) versus DeMatha. I also went to basketball games where the most excitement was the floor mop race at half time and I watched 4 corners slow down.
Graduation from Maryland was in 1965. Following Medical School and surgical training I joined a surgical practice in 1980. My wife signed me up for the Terrapin Club knowing how much I enjoyed seeing my alma mater play.
Do you have an anecdote about Maryland Athletics or the Terrapin Club that you would share?
Brian: I am not sure this fits but when I was a student we had to take two Physical Education classes. I played some golf poorly and thought I could take golf as my course - a win win situation. The athletic department provided the instructors.
This requirement was taken in the summer. Ah yes, warm weather and all. Unfortunately the instructor was a very nice gentleman but who happened to be the wrestling coach (Sully Krouse). I use this story as an excuse for my game.

What do you hope Maryland Athletics will achieve this year?
Brian: A healthy and safe year with some unexpected success.
If you could go back in time and witness one Terps game live (in any sport), what would it be and why?
Brian: Miracle in Miami. I watched it on tv and could not believe it.
What is the first Maryland game you ever went to?
Brian: 1957 the Queen's Game. Terps vs. North Carolina. Hardest ticket in town. My parents took me, not sure why me and neither of my two older brothers. I have won a few bets on whether the Queen of England ever went to a Terps football game.
She stopped at a Giant food store in Chillum to visit the new American idea of a supermarket. The store is now a Petco store.
What makes Maryland Athletics so special?
Brian: It's my hometown team.
