Creative Director for Football

The Creative Director for Football will work as a member of the Maryland Football staff, and be under the direct supervision of the Director of Recruiting Operations with a dotted line to the Assistant AD, Broadcasting & Production. This position will be responsible for bringing to life the vision of Maryland Football through innovative video content in production and broadcasting. The Director will coordinate graphic design and social media content creation management for the football program with the primary purpose of enhancing program visibility and student-athlete recruitment. The individual will oversee the creation of photo, video, and layout design needs for the football program; responsible for creating weekly motivational videos and recruiting specific videos. Develop and implement a football content calendar for all football content and collaborate with other external staff to execute creative assets and content for all football digital platforms; develop and execute a personalized recruiting content journey that aids in the cultivation of prospective student-athletes to join the Maryland Football program. Along with the Assistant AD, Broadcasting & Production, Director of Recruiting Operations and recruiting staff, the Creative Director for Football will create and execute a weekly, monthly, and yearly creative plan to deliver the head coach's vision; coordinate and implement creative media best practice tools, develop presentation aesthetics styles, templates and technologies to drive effectiveness and efficiency within the unit.
 
The Creative Director for Football will collaborate with the Football Video Coordinator in practice preparation, Gossett Football Team House AV maintenance along with road and bowl game setup. S/he will coordinate with the Football Video Coordinator and recruiting staff needs for officials. This includes photo/video shoot stations, photo archiving and photo management; assist with recruiting graphic requests and special projects within the Maryland Football program; and assist with any technical needs from the staff. The Creative Director for Football will also provide support in the hiring and training of student staff, both in coach's video and in creative video. Research and recommend any outside or contract vendors; approve and coordinate project orders; maintain all audio/video equipment for the football program; and perform other duties as assigned.
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in broadcasting, communication, technology or related field is required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a multi-media environment including broadcasting and video production.
  • Experience in creative software (Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
  • Experience in operation video cameras, photography, audio recording and an understanding of collegiate athletics.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills in a high demand/pressure-filled environment.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, high pressure environment.
  • Ability to comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University and its employees, and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (the "NCAA") and the Big Ten Conference (the "BIG10").
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and travel to numerous athletic and related events. 
Preferences:
  • Ideal candidate will have worked within a NCAA Division I football program, and/or conference office handling post production projects; experience with coaches' video software programs (e.g. XOX Thunder, DVSport, Hudl).
  • Experience in operation of video cameras, photography, audio recording and an understanding of college athletics.
  • Experience with basic audio techniques used in on-camera interviews and in voice over situations for post-production projects.
  • Experience choosing motivational style music that will appeal to a wide range of collegiate athletes.
  • Ability to provide information on needed upgrades of equipment and software for budgeting purposes.
