Associate Athletic Director for Sport Administration

The Associate Athletic Director for Sport Administration is committed to excellence and advancing the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics through its strategic plan. In alignment with the department's mission and values and in conjunction with other sport administrators this position participates in the development and coordination of programs, policies and procedures for all 20 sports. Administers assigned athletic sport programs including supervision of head coaches, monitoring budgets, developing competition activities, approving team travel and expenses, overseeing student-athlete academic progress and welfare, educating coaches on NCAA and conference rules. Manages, directs, and supervises all NCAA and Big Ten Conference Championships hosted by the University of Maryland. Initiates bid proposals after researching and establishing designated event budgets. Coordinates tasks and programs for the sport administration team. Serves on NCAA, Big Ten, University and department committees as assigned. This position works in a creative and collaborative team environment where change is embraced and innovation is encouraged and performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the administration of intercollegiate sport programs including supervision of coaches and budget development or coaching at an NCAA participating athletics department is required. Knowledge and experience in NCAA rules and compliance is required.
Master's degree preferred. Preferred candidates will possess excellent communication skills, demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population, experience in creating and implementing personal and professional development opportunities for coaches and student-athletes.
