Each week during the spring, umterps.com will profile a different member of the Maryland women's soccer team leading up to the 2020 season. This week we'll get to know Madison Oracion, who will embark on her third season at Maryland in 2020. The Cornelius, N.C. native was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team this past fall, and will factor into the midfield rotation for UMD in the season ahead with 22 career appearances and nine starts to her name.
What was your favorite moment from last season?
When we beat Rutgers on the road
What are your goals for next season?
To win the Big Ten Tournament and hopefully stay injury-free
What attracted you to the University of Maryland?
The strong combination of academics and athletics as well as the location being so close to D.C. It is also a very beautiful campus.
If you could play another sport at Maryland what would it be?
Tennis because it is fun and I enjoy playing when I am home with my family
What is your favorite memory from playing soccer?
Winning Nationals in 2017 with my club team #thezoo
Favorite class you've taken at Maryland so far?
A Global Challenge: Energy and Climate Change. It was a mix of physics and environmental science so it was really interesting.
Are you a good cook, what's your favorite thing to make?
I honestly don't cook much, but I can make eggs
What is your favorite thing about yourself?
My interest in learning random facts and my sarcasm
What is the best vacation you have ever been on?
Going to Seattle for soccer with my grandparents
If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?
Any type of gum (sugar-free of course)
Favorite TV Show: Grace and Frankie
Favorite Movie: Step Brothers
Favorite Food: I go through phases, but right now its key lime yogurt
Favorite Dessert: Coldstone's sweet cream ice cream with graham cracker in a "Like It" bowl
Favorite Singer/Musical Act: Red Hot Chili Peppers
