"Congratulations to our Terps for showing resiliency while dealing with the challenge of a global pandemic," said Athletic Director Damon Evans.  "Seeing our overall departmental GPA and the number of accomplishments achieved by our student-athletes during a challenging Spring semester is inspiring and something to be celebrated. As our student-athletes learned to adapt to an online learning environment, we all learned the 'new normal' and they were able to thrive. This is a credit to each and every student and every member of our GSAC staff. They are to be commended for their commitment to education and that fill me with great pride."

"The spring 2020 semester will forever be remembered as a time of uncertainty, transition, and challenge," said Associate Athletic Director and Director of the Gossett Student-Athlete Center Brady Rourke. " In order to successfully complete the term, student-athletes needed to adapt to an online learning environment, adjust to curriculum changes, and modify grading method selections. Due to the unexpected and swift change to the learning environment, students were provided an opportunity to select pass / fail or letter grade grading methods for each course. Student-Athletes showed tremendous resolve, turning an unprecedented challenge, into one of the most academically successful semesters in our history. Furthermore, staff in the Gossett Student-Athlete Center for Academic and Personal Excellence bonded together to create innovative academic support initiatives including a Virtual Tutorial Office, and Laptop Loaner Program. Personally, I will remember the spring 2020 semester as a time when student-athletes displayed unparalleled persistence, and advanced their academic standing, in the face of unforseen adversity. Congratulations to our spring 2020 graduates and scholar-athlete award winners for your dedication and continued commitment to academic excellence."
