Catching up with Marcus Minor

Offensive lineman Marcus Minor enters his junior season as a Terp with 22 games already under his belt, starting in all 10 games he played in last season at right tackle. UMTerps.com caught up with Minor to talk about his quarantine, the issues surrounding our country and getting ready for his senior 2020 season.

How have you been staying in shape during the quarantine?
I started out being creative making weights out of material throughout my house. I also had a schedule 10 mile bike ride. Towards the end of quarantine I was able to find a weight room to workout in.

What has been the most interesting/unique thing to come from one of the team or position group zoom calls?
The knowledge I have been able to gain is amazing. Of course I know the plays and normal knowledge of the game but this time gave me the opportunity to study the game on another level.
Why did you think it was important to speak out as a team on the racial injustices going on in our country?
Being an athlete, and even more a black athlete, it is important that I use it to better the world. Therefore I am needed to make a change.
Voting and helping others in the community register to vote and make it to the polls on election days seemed to be a big theme in the players statement. Why is that so important and how do you think the Maryland football team can make a big impact in that area?
Having the best government officials in office allows growth for the country. The more people that have knowledge on who is being voted for and what they stand for allows true transparency in our country. Growth is needed and one way to start is through voting.
Who was your NFL idol growing up?
LaDainian Tomlinson is the reason I was able to fall in love with the sport. As I continued to grow up, Ray Lewis was my true idol. His work ethic, love for the game and refusal to be average is what I gained from him.
What show have you binged watched during the quarantine?
Ozark has become a top-five show of all-time that I've ever watched.
What have you missed the most about being in College Park?
I miss my guys in the locker room. The laughs, the jokes, the camaraderie is what I truly miss the most.
What makes you most excited about the 2020 team?
I'm most excited to prove the doubters wrong and reach the goals that I've set for myself and the team.
