Letter from Terrapin Club Board President

Hello Terp Fans,
As I write my first President's letter I am struck by how much we don't know about the future of fall sports. Just this week, we received encouraging news regarding the 2020 fall season. We will remain hopeful that fans will be able to attend at some point -- in the meantime, I feel confident that our coaches and staff are doing everything they can to ensure the safety of our student-athletes.
While many things about college sports may change, one thing never will: student-athletes need our support. This fall, approximately 500 student-athletes will be attending the University of Maryland. Each one of them will be attending classes, either in person or online. Their scholarship needs did not change because of the pandemic. In fact, our financial support is needed now more than any other time in the history of the university. No matter what happens with the sports calendar, we still have the responsibility to help these young men and women get the education they deserve. When the whistle blows, they give so much to make us proud. Now is our chance to thank them.
The Terrapin Club board and staff are working hard to expand the benefits you receive for your support. This fall, we will launch a new magazine publication for members. We are expanding the discounts Terrapin Club members receive at local restaurants and businesses. And we are continuing to coordinate virtual events to keep our members engaged. We hope you will join us for Terrapin Club Day at the University of Maryland Golf Course on August 19. The course is offering discounts for members - you just need to call 301.314.GOLF to reserve a tee time.
We are approaching the 75th anniversary of the Terrapin Club - an incredible achievement! In the months ahead, we will keep you updated on how we will celebrate. As we grow our following, it will be a great way for us to keep in touch and get the latest news. In closing, while we have an uncertain year ahead, we are excited to continue supporting our student-athletes by growing our membership base.
