Evans Named To Special Olympics Maryland Board of Directors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland Athletic Director Damon Evans has been named to the Special Olympics Maryland's Board of Directors.

Joining the Board in 2020 along with Evans are Arnold Farmer, who serves as an audit manager for SC&H and Jennifer Donelan, who is the Director of Public Information for Prince George's Country Fire/EMS.

"The life lessons such as dedication, commitment, work ethic, learned from competing in sports are invaluable," said Evans. "I have always enjoyed giving back to others and am honored to join the Board of Directors for Special Olympics Maryland. In being selected to this Board, I will do all I can to help the organization reach its goals but more importantly have a positive impact on the lives of the individuals that participate. Over the years, coaches and student-athletes from our athletic department have formed meaningful relationships with Special Olympics competitors and I look forward to growing that relationship."

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This gives them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. Special Olympic Maryland includes 8,716 athletes in the state.
