
Jones's Seven Blocks Not Enough As Terps Swept By No. 9 Ohio State

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Maryland volleyball team was swept by the No. 9 Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday night at the XFINITY Center Pavilion. The Terps (19-12, 7-12 Big Ten) were competitive in the second and third sets but in the end couldn't mount a comeback.
Rainelle Jones, Sam Csire, and Paula Neciporuka each tied for the team-lead in kills on the night with six apiece.
Jones also had a match-high seven blocks, with Csire notching two service aces.
Sydney Dowler finished with a team-high 23 assists, and Milan Gomillion finished with a team-high nine digs.

- Maryland used a balanced effort in the first set led by Jones' three kills and three blocks, but Ohio State's offensive prowess led by Gabby Gonzales's eight kills were too much to overcome as the Terps dropped the first set 25-19.
- The second set was a much tighter contest with the Terps leading 20-19 after a Buckeye service error. However, Ohio State would go on a 4-0 run to retake control and later take the set 25-23.
- The third and final set was another close affair, but after Maryland led 15-14, the Buckeyes used another scoring run (6-0) to regain momentum, close out the set, and win the match.

- Maryland will have a quick turnaround as it'll play its final regular season game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m. inside the XFINITY Center Pavilion.
- Saturday's match will also serve as Senior Day for the Terps as it'll honor six members of the team.
