
Terrapins Close out Maryland Invitational

College Park, Md. – The Maryland track and field team participated in day two of the Maryland Invitational Saturday.
Maryland's track and field team rounded out a successful Maryland Invitational with several Terps setting new personal records including Brady Snelson (800m), Gerald Norgbe (Triple Jump), Colin Rowe (400m), and Jaida Smith (200m). A number of Terps earned podium finishes, including Seniors Nadia Hackett, Bria Mack, Sarah Daniels, and Cheyenne Jones.

Men's Notes
- Freshman Kobe Simpson (48.08s) competed in the Men's 400m for the first time as a Terp, earning second place.
- Junior Colin Rowe (48.41s) set a new personal record in the Men's 400m, finishing in third place.
- Senior Brady Snelson set a new personal record in the Men's 800m, finishing with a time of 1:53.15.
- Gerald Norgbe set a personal record and earned second place in the Men's Triple Jump with a mark of 14.69m.
- Sophomore Drake Murphy competed in the Men's 400m Hurdles for his first time, earning second place.
- Senior Chris Spiess competed in the Men's Pole Vault, earning second place with a mark of 4.77m.
- Freshman Jeff Kline competed in the Men's Shot Put and achieved a mark of 17.04m, earning third place. Kline also competed in the Discus Throw with a mark of 47.42m.
- Hayden Tobias achieved a mark of (15.15) in the Men's Shot Put. Tobias also competed in the Discus Throw with a mark of 46.36m.
- Caleb Dean (14.29s), Brandon Turpin, and Drake Murphy all competed in the Men's 110m Hurdles for the first time. Dean earned a first place finish.
- Freshman Kamari Trotz (10.99s) competed in the Men's 100m dash, earning a fourth place finish and personal best. Trotz also competed in the Men's 200m.
- Cameron Vereen (11.06s) and Joseph Ewan also competed for the Terps squad in the Men's 100m dash.
- Senior Rylan Flint competed in the Men's 5000m, finishing with a time of 15:47.34.
- Freshman Justin DePinto (4:07.11) competed in the Men's 1500m.
Women's Notes
- Senior Nadia Hackett (14.21s) earned a third place finish in the Women's 100m Hurdles.
- Junior Jaida Smith (24.48s) set a new personal record finishing first in the Women's 200m.
- Senior Leah Blackall finished first in the Women's Triple Jump with a mark of 12.41m.
- Cheyenne Jones (25.41) finished second in the Women's 200m, and Sophomore Nyela Williams (26.85s) also competed in the event for her first time.
- Senior Christine Laurie (10:06.48) finished third in the Women's 3000m.
- Freshman Katie Ericson (10:11.84) set a new personal record in the Women's 3000m.
- Senior Courtney Mann also competed for the Terps in the 3000m.
- Senior Bria Mack finished with a time of 11.92s in the Women's 100m dash, earning a second place finish. Mack holds the sixth fastest time in school history for the event.
- Senior Sarah Daniels finished the Women's 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 11:36.45, earning a third place finish. Julia Reicin also competed for the Terps squad.
- Sophomore Sarah George (13.31m) qualified for the finals in the Women's Shot Put. Angel Nkwonta and Kamryn Henderson also competed for the Terps squad.
- Jaida Smith earned a mark of 5.59m in the Women's Long Jump, qualifying for the Long Jump finals. Seun Sule and Ashley Germain also competed in the Women's Long Jump.
- Amanda Eliker (4:46.07), Samantha Facius (4:47.62), Sophia Zell (4:53.24) and Emily McAllister all competed for the Terps squad in the Women's 1500m.
- Kami Joi Hickson (2:13.01) had a top 5 finish to start off her outdoor season in the 800m. Mackenzie Morgan (2:14.94) also made her mark. Samantha Facius, Amanda Eliker, Kirstin Walz, and Camryn Streib all competed for the Terps squad in the Women's 800m.
- The Women's track and field team closed out the meet with two 4x400 relay squads sprinting to the finish.
"Due to the cancellation of the last outdoor season, this is just the beginning for more than half of our Terp Squad. I am looking forward to building on these performances over the next few weeks and am happy to see that we were able to seize the opportunity to perform on our home track early this outdoor season."
