Volleyball Celebrates Seniors in Season Finale

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The University of Maryland volleyball team celebrated its group of six seniors in Saturday's match vs. Northwestern. Maryland fell to the Wildcats in five sets, but the Terps closed the season showing their trademark dedication and resiliency to force a fifth set despite being down 0-2 after the first two sets.

- Maryland sent off its senior class of Nicole Alford, Sam Burgio, Jada Gardner, Chloe Prejean, Erika Pritchard, and Hailey Rubino on Saturday evening. The seniors were honored in a pre-match ceremony where they were greeted by their teammates and coaches, receiving a bouquet of flowers and a framed jersey.
- Maryland fell in five sets to Northwestern, going 1-1 in the two-match series vs. the Wildcats to close the season.
- Senior outside hitter Erika Pritchard led the team in kills with 18 in her final match as a Terp. Pritchard also notched nine digs, a service ace, and a block in the match.
- Rainelle Jones and Sam Csire also tallied double-digit kills, each recording 10.
- Nicole Alford and Sydney Dowler split the setting duties, recording 22 and 21 assists, respectively. Alford and Dowler each recorded a pair of service aces as well.
- Sam Burgio led the Terps in the pass game with 26 digs. Burgio completes her senior season at the top of the Big Ten leaderboard in digs/set, pacing the conference with 4.63.
- Maryland continued to dominate at the net, as the Terps recorded 16 total team blocks. Cara Lewis led the charge with nine block assists, while Laila Ricks recorded seven and Jones tallied six.
