How did you first get involved with the Terrapin Club?
Megan: I have known about the Terrapin Club for years, but didn't become involved until Spring 2019 when I became a University of Maryland M Club Board Member. It was then that I saw how the M Club and Terrapin Club work hand in hand and could do great things together to support student-athletes.Â
What motivates you to give so generously?
Megan: I give because I finally am in a financial position where I can give and know that it matters.Â
Do you have a message for current Terrapin Club donors?
Megan: If you benefited in any way from the University of Maryland as an athlete or a student try to donate by giving time (volunteering), attending the events Terrapin Club hosts, or donate money (any amount you can). Any little bit helps!Â
Do you have an anecdote about Maryland Athletics or the Terrapin Club that you would share?
Megan: I was a Cheerleader for the University of Maryland from 2000-2004. During that time I didn't get many opportunities to actually tailgate or attend games in the stands. I made it a goal to have tickets of my own one day and attend football and basketball games. In 2018, I was able to achieve that goal and have every intention on keeping it that way!Â
Â
Who is on your Mount Rushmore of Maryland Athletics
Megan: I would have to say Coach Ralph Friedgen. I enjoyed cheering when he was our Coach and felt a sense of camaraderie amongst the players and community with the fans during that time.Â
What is your fondest memory as a Maryland student-athlete?
Megan: My fondest memory would have to be the 2002 Peach Bowl. It was amazing to cheer in the Georgia Dome and the fact that we won. After the game (on New Year's Eve), everyone went back to the Players' hotel and we had a huge New Year's Eve + Victory Party in the hotel lobby.
If you could go back in time and witness one Terps game live (in any sport), what would it be and why?
Megan: I would have loved to be at the 2002 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship Game in Atlanta. I was fortunate enough to cheer at the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight games in Syracuse, but that is where my basketball travel ended that season due to limited Cheerleaders being allowed to travel with the team.
How did your experience as a student-athlete help you after graduation?
Megan: It has allowed me to make so many connections and great friendships over the years. Nothing is better than going to a game on campus and running into old teammates or players that I know and picking up like no time has passed at all.
What do you want to see Maryland Athletics achieve moving forward?
Megan: I want to get more students and fans back in the stands!Â
What makes Maryland Athletics so special?
Megan: The great students who join the teams and show their pride of being a Terp!Â
