Maryland Athletics Honors 2021 Spring Graduates

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The University of Maryland celebrated its 2021 spring student-athletes graduates and handed out a selection of prestigious academic honors in a ceremony at XFINITY Center Tuesday evening.

"Tonight we celebrate our 2021 student-athlete graduates at the University of Maryland," director of athletics Damon Evans said to the assembled graduates. "The past few years have been quite the journey to get here and when you experience Commencement - in person at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium two Fridays from now -- you will be able to reflect on the lessons and moments you have made as a Terp. You may hail from 17 different states and several different countries, but when you arrived on campus you all joined the Terrapin family. The culture you have helped us continue to build here in College Park is ONE MARYLAND and the memories you will take with you will last a lifetime."

Grace Griffin and Roman Pugliese were named Maryland's Big Ten Medal of Honor award winners. The Medal of Honor is the highest honor that the conference awards, with two student-athletes from each member institution winning each year. For more click here.

In addition to Evans' remarks, Baxter addressed his fellow graduating student-athletes. Sue Sherburne (SWA/Sr. Associate AD - Academics and Student Development) and Laura Chiriaco (Executive Director of the M Club) also spoke to the assembled crowd.
