Former Terrapin Balsdon Wins Bronze in Tokyo

TOKYO -- Former Maryland field hockey star Grace Balsdon helped Team Great Britain seal the bronze medal in the Olympic games Friday in Tokyo. Balsdon, who played for the Terrapins in 2016, scored the game-winning goal for Great Britain in a 4-3 victory over India in the medal round.
Balsdon scored three goals for Great Britain over its eight-game run. In the bronze medal game vs. India, she scored the go-ahead goal off a penalty corner in the 48th minute of play.
Balsdon was the 2016 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and earned Third Team NFHCA All-America honors in her season in College Park. She scored 14 goals with five assists in 23 games for Maryland.
