Terps in the NFL: Regular Season Primer

It has been 228 days since we last saw our Terps in the NFL with Stefon Diggs, Quinton Jefferson and Darnell Savage Jr. competing in the Conference Championship games on Sunday, January 24. But at last, the NFL is back, beginning tonight with Dallas taking on Tampa Bay.

We have 12 Terps on active rosters heading into Week One, let's check in on where everything stands as the NFL gets ready to begin.

Stefon Diggs

WR Stefon Diggs is set to begin his second season with a team that has sky high expectations in 2021 after reaching the AFC Championship game a year ago: the Buffalo Bills.

And who is going to lead them? Stef himself. Diggs was named a team captain earlier this week. Opposing corners watch out.    Diggs and the Bills open their season on Sunday at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, at 1:00 p.m. on CBS.

DJ Moore & Jermaine Carter Jr.

It's hard to believe for Terp fans, but star Panthers WR DJ Moore is already entering his fourth year in the NFL as the main guy for Sam Darnold and the Carolina offense, who open the season on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. against Ty Johnson and the New York Jets.

DJ will be sporting a new number this season, rocking #2.

Orioles? Nationals? You need a new ball player. Call on DJ. Jermaine Carter Jr. had a remarkable camp for the Panthers, catching the eye of head coach Matt Rhule, who named him a starter at middle linebacker.  Get named a starter. Get Mic'd up. The Panthers put a mic on Jermaine during a preseason game.

Ty Johnson

Ty Johnson begins his first full season with the New York Jets this Sunday in Carolina against Jermaine and DJ.

The Jets looked back at his preseason TD. Ty is being talked about as a fantasy sleeper in a lot of circles entering this season. Add him to your roster while you can!

J.C. Jackson

After solidifying his name among the top corners in the NFL a season ago where he ranked second in the NFL in interceptions, J.C. Jackson opens up his 2021 season with the New England Patriots on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. against the Miami Dolphins.

With Stephon Gilmore out for at least six games, Jackson is CB1 for the Patriots as they begin their 21 journey. J.C. was named the No. 47 player in the National Football League by his peers as revealed in the NFL Top 100.

Darnell Savage Jr.

It's Year Three for Darnell Savage Jr. in Green Bay as he and the Packers start their 2021 season on Sunday in New Orleans, taking on the Saints at 4:25 on FOX.

Savage is working hard to make Year Three the best year yet.   Darnell has one key guy in his corner, the face of the franchise and QB Aaron Rodgers.

Jake Funk

The youngest Terp in the NFL is ready for his time to shine. RB Jake Funk will make his NFL debut in front of the whole nation as the Los Angeles Rams host the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football, on NBC.

We are VERY close to getting the Funk on Sunday night. Jake took to social media when the news was official that he made the 53 man roster. The Good Morning Football crew was thrilled for Funk for fulfilling his NFL dreaams.

Michael Dunn

The other guy Good Morning Football ranked among their top-five roster stories: Browns OL Michael Dunn. After impressing during the playoffs last season, Dunn starts the season with a AFC title hopeful: the Cleveland Browns. The Browns open their season against the two-time defending AFC Champion Kansas City in Arrowhead, on CBS.

Yannick Ngakoue & Quinton Jefferson

Two Terrapin defensive linemen in one place! Yannick Ngakoue and Quinton Jefferson will debut for the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football against the hometown Baltimore Ravens, on ESPN.

Liks Diggs. Yannick was named a captain.

Q joined the Raiders in house podcast to discuss his roll on the 2021 team. Jefferson will rock No. 77 this season.

Tyler Mabry

Seahawks TE Tyler Mabry was called up from the practice squad to the 53-man roster this week ahead of game one, as Seattle opens up the season in Indianapolis at 1:00 p.m. on FOX.

Anthony McFarland Jr.

Steelers RB Anthony McFarland Jr. will start the year on the Injured Reserve for Pittsburgh.
