COLLEGE PARK, Md -- The Maryland women's tennis team defeated the Georgetown Hoyas in a 7-0 sweep Saturday afternoon at the Junior Tennis Champions Center.

- Maryland opened it's 2022 season with a sweep of Georgetown, winning the doubles point easily before capturing all six singles matches.
- In doubles, the Terps gained the advantage after a win from Selma Cadar and Mary Brumfield at the No. 2 spot. Maryland clinched the doubles point with a win at No. 1 from Jojo Bach and Marta Perez Mur, 6-2.
- Perez Mur, in her Maryland debut, started the Terps off strong in single, defeating Chloe Bendetti, 6-1, 6-2. Also in her first singles match as a Terp, Cadar gave Maryland a 3-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the top singles position.
- Freshman Kallista Liu won her first ever collegiate match in straight sets.
- Maryland returns to action later Saturday evening against Coppin State at 5 p.m.
