Terps Prepare for Big Ten Championship at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, OH – The Maryland Women's Golf team is back in action after nearly a three-week to compete in the 40th Lady Buckeye Invitational for their fifth tournament and solo regular-season Big 10 event of the spring.
The Terrapins look to improve their most recent performance placing in a tie for 11th the last time out. Over the two-day tournament (Apr. 15-16), in a stroke-play "Play six, Count four" format Maryland will play the par-72 - 6,319-yard at The Ohio State Golf Club - Scarlet Course.
Participants in the invitational include Big 10 Conference foes host Ohio State, Illinois, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, and Rutgers. Other participants include Indianapolis, Kent State, and Xavier.
During 2018-19, the Terps finished 3rd as a team in the event. The Maryland squad returns with an entirely new lineup.
Maryland will start Patricie Mackova (So.), Angela Garvin (Jr.), Maria Vittoria Corbi (Jr.), Karla Elena Vázquez Setzer (So.), Panassaya Somchit (Fr.), and Elena Verticchio (Sr.).
The tournament will consist of three rounds of play (36 holes on day one and 18 holes during the final round) in a shotgun format beginning at 8:30 a.m. You can follow the on-course action here.
Hovland's Outlook
"We're excited to be back on the course this week at Ohio State, said head coach Kelly Hovland. This will be a tough test for the team on a championship-level course! This weekend will take all of our resilience and grit to battle tough conditions and hang tough against the top teams in the Big 10, but we are looking forward to the challenge!"
