IOWA CITY - The Maryland tennis team set a new program record with its 18th win on Thursday sweeping the Indiana Hoosiers 4-0 in the 2022 Big Ten Women's Tennis Tournament to move to 18-6. The Terps will take on No. 2 seed Michigan on Friday at 9 a.m. CT/10 a.m. ET.
The Terps jumped out to an early lead after clinching the doubles point and never looked back. After Kallista Liu clinched the first singles victory on the day, Minorka Miranda and Mary Brumfield took care of business to finish the sweep.
"We had a great start with doubles today right out of the gate and that set the tone for today," Head Coach Katie Dougherty said. "Coaches and players know how hard it is to beat a team twice in a season and we played well today to get it done. Very happy with how we competed today and for the women on the team securing that 18th win to set the record. We're playing our best tennis now and excited for the opportunity to play a very good Michigan team."
Today's victory breaks the program record for victories previously set in 1988, when the Terps went 17-10.
