COLLEGE PARK, MD - Head Coach John Phillips announced that Jimmie Massie has been named assistant coach for the Maryland men's golf program on Monday.
The Lynchburg, Virginia native played Division I golf at Virginia from 2018-22, completing his collegiate career with the Cavaliers with three top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place finish at the Palmetto Intercollegiate.
"I am thrilled to have Jimmie join our program as Assistant Coach. He is a strong leader with a great passion for the game of golf," said Phillips. "I have been fortunate enough to see him grow and develop over the years, and I'm excited that our student-athletes will have the opportunity to work with him."
Massie holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from Virginia. A standout both on the fairways and in the classroom, Massie has been recognized as a Jim Copeland Memorial Scholarship recipient, a member of the 2019 All-ACC Academic Team, a four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member, and a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar. He was also the team captain and a student-athlete advisory committee member.
"I am incredibly grateful and honored to join the University of Maryland's coaching staff and serve alongside Coach Phillips," said Massie. "Having been coached by him throughout my own collegiate golf career, I am thrilled at the opportunity to work alongside him. I am excited to coach, support, and encourage our student-athletes as we compete this season. Go Terps!"
