9/16/2022 7:05:00 PM | Women's Soccer
COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Mikayla Dayes' goal in the 70th minute powered the Terps (2-1-5) to the first victory over Michigan (5-3-1) in program history, besting the Wolverines 1-0 on a historic night for the program.
The Terps were 0-8-0 against the Wolverines heading into today, but Coach Meghan Ryan Nemzer had the perfect game plan in her Big Ten head coaching debut. This was also the first Big Ten victory for the program since a 1-0 win over Michigan State on Oct. 24, 2019, spanning 22 games.
The Terp defense was absolutely smothering all game, holding the Wolverines to just nine shots, their second-lowest of the season, in front of a loud and passionate home crowd.
Alyssa Poarch was a key catalyst in putting early pressure on the Wolverine defense and had a team-high three shots. The Terps out-shot the Wolverines 10-9.
