
No. 4 Maryland Sweeps B1G/ACC Challenge With 7-2 Win Over No. 18 Duke

The Terps got goals from seven different players including Hope Rose, Margot Lawn, Bibi Donraadt, Emma DeBerdine, Danielle Van Rootselaar, Leah Crouse and Maura Verleg.
With the victory, the Terps moved to 4-0 on the season.
Breaking Down The Action
- Maryland put pressure on early, as a well placed pass gave Margot Lawn an open look at goal but the shot went just wide right.
- Duke was first on the board placing the first penalty corner of the contest into the bottom right corner.
- Goalkeeper Christina Calandra held the deficit at one goal late in the first quarter, making multiple saves off a dangerous Duke penalty corner.
- Maryland kept on the attack, including a strong look at the net from Danielle Van Rootselaar that was kept out by a strong kick save.
- The Terps equalized five minutes into the second quarter with a goal from Hope Rose off a Emma DeBerdine penalty corner insert.
- Maryland claimed the lead in the 25th minute after Maura Verleg found the net with a shot from just inside the circle.
- The Terps held a 11-to-2 advantage in shots after the first half of play
- A methodical third quarter saw the Terps take a two goal lead with a Leah Crouse goal off a Hope Rose assist.
