No. 4 Terps' Season Ends In NCAA Quarterfinals

Box Score COLLEGE PARK, MD – No. 4 Maryland saw its season come to an end on Sunday afternoon as the Terps lost to Virginia, 4-0, in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Terps season finished with a 17-6 after advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the 28th time in the last 29 years. Maryland played in the Big Ten Tournament Championship game for the first time since 2018. 

The Cavaliers scored one goal in each quarter. Virginia outshot the Terps 16-6. 

Goalie Alyssa Klebasko made seven saves for the Terps.

Virginia (14-6) advanced to the NCAA Semifinals, where the Cavaliers will play No. 1 North Carolina in Chapel Hill next Friday.

  • Virginia took a 1-0 lead on a Danielle Mendez-Trendler's goal off a rebound from a penalty corner with 5:47 left in the first quarter. 
  • The Cavaliers increased their lead to 2-0 on a goal by Madison Orsi with 6:29 left in the first half as she finished off a pass from Noa Boterman. Virginia led 2-0 at intermission as Maryland didn't record a shot in the second quarter. 
  • Minnie Pollock's goal with 8:47 left in the third increased the Cavaliers' lead to 3-0. 
  • Adele Iacobucci scored 2:57 in the fourth quarter for the 4-0 score.
