
Four Terps Earn Academic All-District Honors

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Four Maryland women's soccer student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Liz Beardsley, Caroline Koutsos, Ava Morales, and Kelsey Smith each were honored for their outstanding athletic and academic achievements. The CSC Academic All-District Teams recognizes the nation's top student-athletes annually for their performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
Beardsley started all 18 games in goal for the Terps in her first season in College Park. The junior goalkeeper made 67 saves on the season, and became the first Maryland goalkeeper to have six shutouts in a single season since 2017. Morales built on her impressive freshman campaign, by leading the Terrapins in goals in 2023. Morales played in all 18 games, making ten starts and logging 994 minutes of game action. Koutsos joined the Terps in 2023 after four previous seasons at UMBC. The defender started 17 out of the Terps 18 games and was second on the team with 1,553 minutes played. Koutsos joined a defense that helped keep six clean sheets on the year, including against George Mason where the Terps did not allow a single shot. Smith was an integral player off the bench for the Terps in her first year of action. The Elkridge, Maryland native also started 4 games in 2023 while totaling 589 minutes on the pitch for the Terps' attack.
