COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland freshman forward Kimani Stewart-Baynes has signed a Generation adidas contract with Major League Soccer, the league announced Tuesday. He will now be available for selection in the MLS SuperDraft which takes place Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 3:00 p.m.

This is the third-straight season Maryland has had a Generation adidas signing, the first college team to accomplish this since Indiana and Syracuse from 2018-20. 

Stewart-Baynes was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and a unanimous Big Ten All-Freshman Team selection. The Toronto native burst onto the scene in his first season in College Park, scoring three goals and notching a team leading seven assists. His 10 combined goals and assists is the most for a Maryland freshman since Eryk Williamson had six goals and five assists in 2015. 

Stewart-Baynes is Maryland's second Big Ten Freshman of the Year following Joshua Bolma, who won the award in 2021. Patrick Mullins (2010) and Jeremy Hall (2006) won conference freshman of the year honors in the ACC. 

The 2024 MLS SuperDraft is scheduled for Dec. 19 and will be streamed on Apple TV via MLS Season Pass beginning at 3:00 p.m. Toronto FC holds the No. 1 overall selection.
