Men’s Soccer Announces 2023 Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland men's soccer coach Sasho Cirovski announced the program's 2023 schedule Wednesday, featuring nine matches with teams that advanced to the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

The stacked slate includes five consecutive contests against 2022 NCAA Tournament sides to begin the season, with four of those coming at Ludwig Field. The Terps will play 11 matches in total at home in front of the best fans in college soccer, with featured matches against Indiana, Wake Forest, Georgetown, Rutgers, Michigan, Missouri State and UNC-Greensboro.

"Once again we have put together a challenging and exciting schedule for our players and fans," Cirovski said. "Our goal each season is to be the last team smiling, and to do that you have to play the best competition throughout the year. I can't wait to see our players once again perform at Ludwig on big nights in front of our fantastic fans, including The Crew. See you in August."

The Terps schedule begins with a plethora of notable non-conference matchups. Opening night at Ludwig Field comes on Aug. 24 when the Terps welcome Missouri State (8:30 PM), who has advanced to four consecutive NCAA Tournaments. UNC-Greensboro, a 2022 NCAA Elite Eight team, travels to College Park on Sunday, Aug. 27 to face the Terps at 7:00 p.m.

The first Friday Night Lights of the season occurs on Sept. 1 (7:30 PM) when the Terps welcome former ACC rival Wake Forest to Ludwig Field for the first time since 2013. Maryland will then renew the greatest rivalry in college soccer against Virginia in Charlottesville on Monday Sept. 4 (7:00 PM).

The Terps and Georgetown will face off their annual match at Ludwig Field on Friday Sept 8 (7:00 PM). Maryland will then host Michigan in its Big Ten opener on Thursday, Sept 14. On Sept. 19, the Terps will travel to face off with Penn State before a clash at Wisconsin on Sept. 24. The Terps return home for four straight matches at Ludwig Field, starting with a Friday night contest with Northwestern on Sept. 29. The Terps then will battle with Rutgers (Oct. 3), Bowling Green (Oct. 7) and Villanova (Oct. 10).

Maryland heads back on the road to take on Michigan State on Oct. 15. The final Friday Night Lights of the season is against 2022 National Runner Up Indiana on Oct. 20. The Terps home finale is Oct. 24 vs. Navy before the regular season finale at Ohio State on Oct. 29.

The Terps enter the 2023 season following a Big Ten Regular Season Championship in 2022 which saw the Terps go undefeated in conference play. Cirovski is at the moment set to welcome 10 freshmen and a transfer to a squad that returns five starters and five key reserve contributors.
