Jeff Kline Qualifies for NCAA Championships

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Jeff Kline has qualified for the NCAA Track and Field Championships in the shot put.
 
At the NCAA East First Round, Kline threw 18.84m, which landed him inside of the coveted top 12 of all competitors at the meet. Kline will now head to Austin, Texas on June 7 to compete college's top track and field meet.
 
Kline, a junior from Blandon, PA has impressed all season long, landing at #2 all time in Maryland history in the shot put with his throw of 18.91m at the LSU Lloyd Wills Invitational. Kline improved on that mark multiple times over the next meets, eventually surpassing the 19-meter mark and throwing a personal best of 19.11 at the UVA Challenge.

The last Terp shot put competitor to score points in the NCAA National Championships was Ian Pyka, who finished fourth in 1979, with a throw of 19.45m (63-9 3/4) in Champaign, Illinois. He also finished sixth in the nation in 1978 with a throw of 19.06 in Eugene, Oregon.
