No. 20 Terps and No. 16 Wake Forest Finish In Scoreless Draw

Box Score COLLEGE PARK, MD – In a highly competitive top-20 matchup between two former ACC rivals that lived up to its billing, No. 20 Maryland (1-1-1) and No. 16 Wake Forest (1-0-2) finished in a 0-0 draw in front of a raucous Ludwig Field under the Friday Night Lights.

Neither team was able to generate many chances in the first half, but the Terps took control of possession for large portions of the second half, outshooting the Demon Deacons 10-7 in the match, and generated a few prime opportunities. Ultimately, however, neither team could find the back of the net and the match ended in a scoreless draw.

The Maryland defense did not allow the Demon Deacons to put a shot on goal all evening.

  • The Terps remained on the attack for the rest of the second half and in the 68th minute they had another prime opportunity when they drew a corner kick. Justin Harris put a shot on goal, forcing Wake Forest to make a save that rebounded to Riley, whose shot sailed just high.
  • In the 72nd minute, Abo drew a penalty kick for the Terps but Copetti was unable to convert.
  • Maryland had a few final chances in the last two minutes of action with shots by Riley and Costabile, but neither were able to connect.
