WESTCHESTER, IL -- The Maryland men's golf team wrapped up its first competition of the 2023-24 season Tuesday in the Highlands Invitational at the Chicago Highlands Club.
Graduate
Ben Cooper led the Terrapins with his score of 220 (71-74-75), which was four strokes over total. He made 10 birdies in the event, including five in Tuesday's final round. Cooper finished tied for 48th in the field.
Making his collegiate debut, freshman
Yang Kuang finished just two strokes behind Cooper with a score of 222 (76-73-73). He picked up nine birdies. Junior
Florian Huerlimann earned a score of 223 (72-74-77), which was +7 overall. He made six birdies in three-round event.Â
Sophomore
Ronnie Kim shot a score of 226 (76-73-77) and sophomore
Constantin Mons earned a score of 236 (87-72-77).
Chicago Highlands is the best course in Illinois and the 18th best course in the countryÂ
according to GolfDigest. The publication also rated hole nine at Chicago Highlands as one of the best hole designs in America.
Next, the Terrapins will compete in the Badger Invitational at the University Ridge Golf Course in Verona, Wisc. Oct. 1-3.
