COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Terps notched their second straight win as a pair of impressive, long-range goals from Catherine DeRosa and Ava Morales lifted them to a dominant 2-0 win over George Mason on Thursday evening at Ludwig Field. Maryland finished the match with 28 shots taken, the most since the team had 30 against Yale on September 13, 2015, and zero shots allowed, accomplishing that feat for the first time since joining the Big Ten.

DeRosa scored her second goal of the season in the 38th minute as she corralled a loose ball and fired from well outside the box to put the Terps ahead for good. Morales doubled the Maryland lead in the 65th minute with another fantastic finish from outside the box. It was Morales' second consecutive game with a goal.

Maryland (2-1-4) dominated possession all night against the Patriots (0-7-0), finishing with an outstanding 28-0 advantage in shots and a 15-0 advantage in corners.

Breaking Down the Action

The Terps started the offensive pressure early, putting two chances on goal in the 14th minute off a corner kick.
In the 21st minute, Maddie Krakower had a nice cross that Lisa McIntrye got a head on, but it sailed just over the crossbar.
DeRosa opened the scoring in the 38th minute with a curling effort from outside the box. The goal was her second on the season and her fourth of her career.
Lauren Wrigley was close to doubling the Terps' lead in the 55th minute with a hard-kicked shot that banged off the crossbar.
Maryland succeeded in stretching its lead to two goals in the 65th minute as Morales fired another scorcher from outside the box.

"This win feels amazing, I'm so happy for the girls. What we talk about is continuing to get 1% better and trusting the process. In the last three weeks , we've had really good practices. I'm really excited that we were able to get more people in today as well. I think that shows that we are getting deeper. Shows that we're building relationships. But it's nice when you have that kind of performance as a team."

"I intercepted the ball and when I took my space I saw that the goalie shifted over. I feel like I've practiced that a lot to the point where that's kind of my money shot. So I just needed to take that shot."

The Terps head back on the road to conclude non-conference play, as they take on Binghamton on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 1 PM.
Sunday's game will be the first time that the two programs have met.
